Harmony drops heartbreaker, Eagles season ends short of state tournament

The Harmony Eagles traded blows with the Van Alstyne Panthers Saturday like a pair of heavyweight boxers.

The decisive game three of the Class 3A Region 2 final went back and forth, changing leads three times in the final three innings.

But the Van Alstyne Panthers prevailed taking down Harmony 6-5 to reach their second state tournament in the last four years.

The Eagles were trying to advance to the final four of their classification for the first time since 2003.

Senior Easton Blackstone had two RBI hits for Harmony.

Coach Ronnie McNeel’s club wraps up the 2019 campaign at 30-9.
