Gilmer ISD announces finalist to fill Head Coach position

Gilmer ISD has announced its finalist for the Athletic Director/Head Coach position.

Gilmer Superintendent Rick Albritton announced Friday that Matt Turner will be recommended for the position, during the March 23rd Board Meeting. Turner is looking to fill the position left by Jeff Traylor, whose 2014 team took home a state championship.

Turner has 33 years in public education. He has been the offensive coordinator the Gilmer ISD for the last 12 years. Before that, he was at Jacksonville for 12 years and Marshall for 5 years. During his time there he won his first state championship.

He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Arkansas State University.
