State Representative Bryan Hughes’ election party was full of supporters watching and waiting for results.
The Greater Tyler Association of Realtors building saw people coming in and out all night long to show support to Representative Hughes who was campaigning for the District One Senate seat.
The seat was previously held by Senator Kevin Eltife, also from East Texas, announced he is retiring after serving more than two decades in the position.
In what was supposed to be the closest race of the night, Hughes blew past his opponents by gaining huge margins in several counties, including Smith County. Despite the success, it is looking like the final count could be close and his camp could expect a run-off.
