The Pine Tree Pirates put in a full night of work for their Blue versus White spring football game Friday.
And they showed that they are serious about reaching the playoffs next season after barely missing out in 2018.
The Blue team pulled away and won the contest 35-14.
Entering his fourth year at the helm, head coach Kerry Lane has stressed that he wants his team to be more physical.
He also wants them to enjoy their time on the gridiron.
“When I was a kid I loved playing ball, and I don’t ever want to take that away from them so,
I think sometimes we’re so hard on them hey, you’re supposed to have fun doing this,” said Lane.
“I’ve been saying it all spring, I think 5-5 used to be a good thing around here, we were pretty disappointed about 5-5 last year and I think we’ve got a group of kids with a chip on their shoulder and they want to prove something and we had a great spring we really did, program is growing at all levels, so it’s good,” he added.
When they strap it up in the fall, PT opens the season at Bullard on August 30.
