They hoisted their first state championship trophy in 81 years back in December, and in April, they finally got their hands on something they’ll be able to hold on to for a life-time.
As expected, the Longview fans packed the Lobo Coliseum on campus, as the team was presented with their championship rings.
The Lobos went undefeated in 2018, and ended their title journey with a 35-34 victory over Beaumont West Brook, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
They won this as a team, so head coach John King wanted them all to see their rings at the same time, and he just so happened to have the best seat in the house when they finally opened up those little black boxes.
“I hoped they would like them, I thought they would, and to see their response and the smiles on their faces it was great,” said King. “it’s something you dream about, something you talk about, you know, something they’ve seen other people get to do, and now it happened here in Longview Texas and for Longview High School.”
Right after the ceremony, coach King had the guys back on the field for spring football, and getting an early start on defending their championship.
