Black shuts out Gold 21-0 in Nacogdoches spring game under new coach

The Nacogdoches Dragons took their turn on the spring game gridiron Thursday.

New head coach Darren Allman believes his club invested a very productive last four weeks of practice, and has set a good foundation going into the summer months.

“We’re a young talented group, whose got a good group of seniors, but we’ve also got a lot of good young talent.  And I’ve been in some pretty good places, and I think our talent certainly matches up in a lot of ways, in a lot of areas.  Across the board though, you know, where we’ve got to get to another level is the consistency of staying away from mistakes, not turning the ball over,” said Allman who comes to East Texas after being the athletics director at Southlake Carroll.

The Dragons are coming off their first playoff appearance since 2014, which was the last time Nac finished the year with a winning record.

Nacogdoches opens the 2019 campaign at home against Kilgore.
