Attack on Swiss train leaves 6 injured

A train carrying several dozen passengers in Switzerland today fell victim to an attack.

According to Swiss police, the alleged attacker, a Swiss man, poured out a flammable liquid in one of the train carriages. Armed with at least one knife he caught the liquid on fire.

He then stabbed several passengers. So far six people are reported injured, some seriously. 

A six-year-old child is among those who were injured as the train traveled in the far east of the country along the border.

The other victims included two 17-year-old men. Also a 50-year-old man and three women aged 17, 34 and 43.

The alleged 27-year-old Swiss attacker was also injured and taken to the hospital. 

The attack occured as the train approached Salez station.

A  huge contingency of police, firefighters, rescue helicopters and paramedics are at the scene.

Investigators said, the motive for the attack is unknown at this stage and nearby Salez station remains closed.
