3 Texas cities named ‘Top 25 Places to Retire’

Forbes magazine recently released their “2016 Top 25 Places to Retire” list, and once again, Abilene has made the cut.

Over 500 communities were evaluated by several factors including cost of living, tax climate, average home price, crime rate, unemployment rate, amount of doctors per capita, and more.

Abilene’s low cost of living and moderate average home price of $156,000 make it an ideal place for seniors to live out their Golden years, according to the Forbes article which also cited Abilene’s seven college campuses as a factor in their decision to place the City on the list.

Other Texas cities named one of the top places to retire include San Marcos and Grand Prairie. Some other out-of-state cities are: Athens, Georgia; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Lexington, Kentucky.
