2 former Alto clerks indicted for theft

Two former city of Alto clerks have been indicted for stealing thousands of dollars from the city.

According to court documents, court clerk Jeanie Migon Curtis Selman and city clerk Whitney Arriola stole between $30,000 and $150,000 from the city of Alto. The exact amount was not disclosed in the indictment filed in the Second Judicial District Court. 

The theft of the money allegedly took place on October 1, 2010, according to the indictment.

The duo is charged with theft by public servant.

Both were released Monday from the Cherokee County Jail on a $5,000 bond each.
