2 attacked with suspected crowbar in Lufkin home invasion

Two Lufkin residents survived a terrifying incident when a man broke into their home and attacked them with what officials say could have been a crowbar.

According to Lufkin Police, at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a couple was attacked during a break-in on the 900 block of James Avenue.

A woman at the location said she was in her living room when a black male appeared inside her home and stood over her. The man had one hand behind is back and the victim said she feared he was holding a gun.

At this point, the woman tried to run to a back room for safety, but she was smacked over the head with a metal object. Her husband, who was in the backyard, heard her screams and ran into the house. The unknown man then hit the husband in the head and arm with the same weapon.

Children who were in the home at the time of the attack told officers they thought the weapon was a crowbar.

The victims were hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries. He is described as a tall, thin black male with long dread locks and glasses. The attacker is believed to have fled the home in a silver or beige four-door car.
