Brian Alonzo

August 2016 - Brian Alonzo joined KETK-TV/KFXK-TV in August of 2016 as weekend meteorologist.

A native Texan, Brian was born and raised in San Antonio. He attended two universities: The University of Oklahoma and the University of the Incarnate Word. He was the first student to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology at UIW. He also has a minor in Communication Arts.

In 2003, while attending UIW, he had the opportunity to intern at WOAI-TV in San Antonio. He learned about the broadcasting industry and how to create weather graphics. That same year, he wanted to focus his studies on meteorology. Upon watching the May 8-9 Oklahoma tornado coverage, he decided Oklahoma was where he needed to be.

While attending OU, he worked at KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City. Even though he was in the operations department, Brian helped out with the weather team whenever severe weather threatened. He learned what goes into severe weather coverage and storm chased with photojournalists and reporters.

In 2005, he returned home to San Antonio when UIW started a meteorology program. In 2006, he was hired at KSAT-TV as weather and traffic producer and held the position for 10 years.

Brian is a current member of the American Meteorological Society and is the former president of the South Central Texas Chapter of the American Meteorological Society/National Weather Association.

When Brian is not forecasting the weather, he enjoys working out, exploring the outdoors and cooking.
