UT Tyler police on hunt for man who allegedly choked woman, pointed gun at her

The UT Tyler Police Department is on the hunt for a man accused of domestic violence at an on-campus apartment complex.

Jaquavion Slaton, 20, has been named as the suspect and is accused of physically assaulting, choking, and pointing a gun at a woman on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred at Victory Village Apartments, located next to the Texas Department of Public Safety Office.

He then fled on foot towards University Boulevard and a search of the area turned up nothing.

Police say that Slaton should be considered “armed and dangerous” and that he “has a history of assault.”

Appropriate measures to protect the victim have been taken, according to the statement. However, Slaton may return to the apartment complex.

Slaton is described as 5’5″, 150 lbs with short, curly hair. He has a tattoo of a bird on the right side of his neck and was last seen wearing red shorts and a white shirt.

This is the second alleged attack to take place on a UT Tyler apartment complex this semester.
