UPDATE: Authorities identify man killed in officer-involved shooting in Harrison County

MARSHALL, Texas (KETK) – One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Marshall.

According to authorities, deputies from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve a search warrant for narcotics on Demetrius Williams, 31, in the 600 block of South Allen Blvd. at about 11 a.m. Thursday.

Williams made an attempt to hit one of the deputies as he fled the scene by car, according to official reports, prompting officers to shoot at the vehicle and fatally striking Williams in the process.

The deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave during an investigation per HCSO policy.

The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation.

The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Marshall from earlier today.

According to Trooper Jean Dark, they were requested by Sheriff Tom McCool. The incident occurred in the 600 block of South Allen Blvd.
