Sex offender accused of dealing drugs from home

A sex offender is headed back to jail for reportedly dealing drugs from his home.

According to the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Dernell Pleasant, 33, and charged him with several drug-related offenses. Pleasant, a sex offender, was currently out on parole and wearing an ankle monitor.

Sheriff Jason Bridges said their deputies raided Pleasant’s home on Thursday after obtaining a search warrant for the residence on Seale Street. Authorities were allegedly able to purchase meth from the suspect during a sting operation.

When the SWAT team searched Pleasant’s home shortly before noon, they found Xanax, codeine, marijuana and methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Pleasant was arrested and booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. A blue warrant is also expected to be issued on Pleasant by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
