3 arrested in Lufkin drug raid

The Lufkin Police Department announced the arrest of three people in connection with meth and prescription drug sales in the area.

Authorities from multiple task forces raided a home last week in the 500 block of Paul Avenue.

Law enforcement arrested Carlos Hazel Vargas, 27, and Megan Marie Woodard, 22, both of Lufkin. A third person who lived at the home was taken into custody after returning. They were identified as Diego Hernandez, 18, of Lufkin.

Vargas was charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver alprazolam (Xanax), possession of cocaine and theft of a firearm.

Woodard was charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and possession with intent to deliver alprazolam. Vargas has also been placed on hold due his immigration status.

Vargas was charged with delivery of methamphetamine.

Officers found in the home 389 grams of alprazolam, 37 grams of meth, half a gram of cocaine, two pistols reported stolen in Angelina County, a shotgun, undisclosed amount of money, baggies, scales and other equipment associated with drugs. Multiple vehicles were also seized.

All three were booked into the Angelina County Jail. Vargas bond was set at $520,000. Woodard and Hernandez are being held on bonds a little more than $200,000.
