Karah Rucker joined the KETK news team in May 2016. She grew up in the Houston area and is thrilled to be staying in her home state!
She was first introduced to the world of journalism in high school where she worked for the newspaper, yearbook, and school broadcast, KPAN-TV. At Sam Houston State University, Karah studied multi-platform journalism and became editor-in-chief of the Houstonian, SHSU’s independent student newspaper.
She interned in Houston at 104.1 KRBE, the number one morning show. While there, she produced unique content for the Houston Rockets 2015 playoff run. She also contributed to her local town’s paper as a sports correspondent.
At KRIV FOX 26 in Houston, she assisted with major flood coverage in the summer of 2015 and helped the station with their social media platforms.
Karah says her passion for journalism derives from her instinct of always asking questions and the joy of sharing other people’s stories with the community.
She loves taking in a good movie or watching her Houston sports teams during free time. She appreciates the work that goes into filmmaking and is always up for a good action flick! Planet of the Apes and Jurassic World are two of her favorites.
