Warmer days ahead this week

Temperatures to return 10-15 degrees above average, cooler for upcoming weekend

TYLER, Texas (KETK) - A cool start to the work week in East Texas will quickly change starting on Tuesday. This will lead to above normal temperatures for most of this week. We also have a few rain chances for the week ahead.

These clouds are hanging tough for us through the afternoon. We will see some peaks of sun, but look for temperatures to remain in the lower to mid-60s, lower 70s in Deep East Texas.

The reason why we’re in the clouds and cooler weather is thanks to Sunday’s weak front that was very shallow. It did not clear out the moisture in the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere—thus keeping us with clouds and a dreary pattern to begin the week.

Clouds will persist each day this week. However with southeast winds returning on Tuesday, we will start to warm back up. Tuesday afternoon we might stay with cloudy skies, but we will come close to 70 degrees.

Wednesday will get warmer. Also, a nearby front could trigger a few showers Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning. Futurecast keeps the rain mostly north of the Red River, but some will come southward toward I-30.

On Thursday, a few showers are possible. This would primarily be along and north of I-20. Rain chances for now about 20% to 30%. Thursday will also be humid and breezy!

Even warmer on Friday as we could push near 80 ahead of a cold front. By the Friday night and Saturday, the front will bring a few showers and storms briefly. Then, cooler weather for the weekend.

So, this is just a snapshot of the week ahead for our area. As we get more model data, I will provide an in-depth weather blog with our potential for rain for mid-week and Friday night/Saturday AM.
