Coldest night in decades for East Texas

Hard freeze expected tonight

Tyler (KETK) - Record setting temperatures and the coldest weather in years is ahead for East Texas.

We're in the Arctic plunge through Thursday afternoon. Temperatures on Wednesday afternoon will barely make it to freezing. We will see milder weather by the end of the week.

Here are the current temperatures now.

If temperatures go to 11° or lower by morning, it will be the coldest since February 4th of 1996 in Tyler and February 5th of that same year in Longview.

Here are our forecast temperatures for Wednesday morning:

With mainly clear skies, temperatures from the single digits to the mid teens, winds chills are expected to also be in the teens and single digits. Tomorrow morning there will be travel issues--with ice as the main concern. Don't forget about taking care of the 4P's.
