The Nacogdoches Central Heights Blue Devils are one of six East Texas teams still alive in the high school baseball playoffs. The Blue Devils are proving that a culture of excellence can be more important than varsity experience. The 2017 Blue Devils have just one starter back from last year's team, which is is Texas A&M commit Grayson Rodriguez. Just about everyone else was a JV player last year. Nonetheless, Central Heights is 35-1-1 on the season under first-year coach Travis Jackson. They've won their ninth consecutive district title. And if they can get past kirbyville in the class three-a region region three final, they'll reach the state tournament for the first time since 2011.
