Over 350 boys and girls ages seven to 16 attended Carolina Panthers cornerback Teddy Williams' 7th annual speed and agility camp Saturday at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium. The former John Tyler Lion calls it a blessing to be able to come home and put on a very unique camp for the youth of East Texas.
Watch the video to see the story and to hear from Williams as well as former JT and Houston QB Greg Ward who is now a rookie receiver with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Williams is excited about having stayed with the Panthers, after re-signing with them this past spring, despite having spent much of last season on the shelf with a knee injury.
Williams also introduced the first perseverance awards at his camp in honor of the late Michael Johnson, a former John Tyler football and track coach who had a major influence in Williams' life. The awards went to Hogg Middle School eighth grader LaDavion Butler, and Tyler Lee sophomore Danyelle Daniels.
