Rivalry Rematch: Longview will face Lufkin in State Quarters

(KETK) -- It's one of the best rivalries in the state, and on Saturday, December 9th, Longview and Lufkin will play each other again, but this time it will be for a spot in the semi-final round of the high school football playoffs.

Both teams faced undefeated opponents in the 3rd round.

For Longview, they had to take on the Klein Collins Tigers at McLane Stadium in Waco. K.C. took an early 14-0, but the Lobos rallied, and came out on top 30-24.

Lufkin had to travel south to face Spring Westfield in New Caney. The Pack had to hold off the Mustangs late, but came out on top 14-11.

Longview beat Lufkin 35-16 at Lobo Stadium in week one, now these two bitter rivals will face off at 2:00 p.m. next Saturday in the Class 6A Division 2 state quarterfinals at Homer Bryce Stadium, the home of the SFA Lumberjacks.
