MINEOLA, Texas (KETK) - Smith County deputies have found a woman and her alleged abductor after she was reportedly kidnapped Monday afternoon.
According to Smith County, at around 12:40 pm., their office received a report of a kidnapping in the 23000 block of Live Oak Drive, which is near the city of Mineola.
Authorities say a man kicked in a door at a home and took a woman from inside. The pair then left the scene in a vehicle.
The suspect and victim were identified, due to the fact they have dealt with both people in past disturbances at the location. They reported kidnapper was identified as 26-year-old James Derrick Adams, Jr. The woman is 37-year-old Melissa Nicole Boaz.
Deputies say the suspected kidnapper and victim have a past relationship.
At around 2:40 p.m., deputies reported finding the woman unharmed. The woman told law enforcement she was not taken against her will and the situation was a misunderstanding.
Authorities were able to locate and take into custody the man said to be responsible for the kidnapping on County Road 456, south of County Road 455. He was found near a green minivan with a broken rear window.
According to the Smith County Sheriff's Office, even if the man did not face a kidnapping charge, he could possibly be charged with burglary charge for breaking into a home. The homeowner would have to cooperate with deputies in this instance.
