UPDATE: DPS identifies man who died in Love's Lookout wreck

JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KETK) - The DPS has identified the victims of a fatal two-vehicle pin-in crash near Love's Lookout.

The wreck happened around 12:30 p.m. near Love's Lookout at Highway 69 and CR 3908, just outside the city of Jacksonville.

According to the preliminary crash report, a Cadillac driven by Ewing Thomas, 72, of Fort Worth had stopped at the intersection of CR 3908 and Hwy 69. Thomas then pulled out in front of a Ford F-150 pickup traveling northbound on Hwy 69.

The Ford pickup, driven by Larry Kennedy, 64, of Rusk hit the Cadillac in the left driver’s side door. 

Both vehicles ended up in the east side ditch of Hwy 69.

Thomas sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital in Jacksonville where he was later pronounced dead.

Kennedy sustained serious injuries. He also was taken to a Palestine hospital.

The wreck remains under investigation.
