Henderson County, Texas (KETK) - An East Texas man is behind bars after officials say he was found with stolen property and contraband during a traffic stop.
On Sunday evening, Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse says Travis Brax Davis, 19, was driving two other men around when the sheriff's office received information he may have been involved in a burglary and driving without a license.
Davis was stopped by Deputies David Robertson and Cornelius Redwine around 8:30 p.m., at a has station on Highway 31 in Murchison. Officials say Davis began acting nervous when confronted about his lack of a license.
Deputy Robertson reported seeing several large, fixed-blade knives near his seat and asked the suspect to exit the vehicle.
"Inside a knife sheath, the deputy discovered a clear, plastic baggie with a white crystal-like substance that appeared to be methamphetamine," Sheriff Hillhouse said. Additional drug paraphernalia was discovered in the vehicle.
Deputies also discovered property belonging to a local RV park that reported a burglary the day before.
“Our deputies took to the tip, spotted the vehicle he was driving, pulled him over, and took him to jail,” Sheriff Hillhouse said. “That’s what happens when good citizens help us out.”
Davis was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. His passengers were detained, checked and released.
