Lufkin, Texas (KETK) - Good news for our friends in Lufkin, after five years Lone Star Charlie's will be returning to Lufkin
Their new location will be at the Pilot truck stop on 1920 E Denman Ave.
The restaurant was known for being run by the same family in Lufkin for over 30 years.
"It was actually this time in 2012 the state came through and needed that area to widen the road," said Wade Jabbour Jr. Co-owner. "So that eminent domain, stuff we had to get going."
Jabbour was only five years old when the Lufkin restaurant first opened and when it closed he ventured off to pursue another career.
He would spend the next few years working on a pipeline but decided to return to his roots.
Eventually Jabbour and his father Wade Jabbour Sr. decided to open the new restaurant at the truck stop on the southeast loop in Lufkin.
Thankfully the space was previously another restaurant so the duo had very little work to do in the new space.
"We're shooting for the third of April if, God willing, the creeks don't rise we'll do that then if not it's probably going to be the 10th," said Jabbour.
For now Jabbour is taking out ads in hopes of quickly staffing the new restaurant.
In the meantime, however, he is just glad to be back.
"We had a lot of old faces, a lot of old friends, that came in a lot and that was some good times," said Jabbour. "And I remember that I do miss that, so I'm pretty stoked about that, I'm excited about seeing a bunch of old faces but then I again I'm excited about making some new ones, new friendships so it works both ways."
