LONGVIEW, Texas (Longview News-Journal) - Racing is a passion.
That's what 19-year-old Jesus Roldan of Longview said two weeks after his arrest on a racing charge. Contacted through Facebook, Roldan said he would do it again.
He then cut off the conversation shortly after he learned he wouldn't be paid for an interview with the News-Journal — a request he made because he said he needs money for his ticket and his race car.
He's one of three men Longview police arrested in October on charges of racing — one of five people arrested on racing charges in the past six years.
Longview police spokesman Sgt. Shane McCarter said another type of arrest, reckless driving, also might capture part of the racing picture. The department hasn't made any arrests under that category this year, though there were 11 arrests in the five years prior.
