Palestine police arrest man for bomb threat

PALESTINE, Texas (KETK) - Palestine police have arrested a man in connection with a bomb threat.

Officers responded Wednesday evening to reports of a bomb threat at Metro PCS at 2020 Crockett Road in Palestine.

Store employees reported that John Arthur Stephens Jr., 35, of Palestine, had been in the store to disconnect his phone. They told authorities that Stephens stated that a bomb would be delivered to the location.

Stephens then left the store.

Officers searched the area and found Stephens in a nearby parking lot, where he was taken into custody. He was taken to the Anderson County Jail and booked on the charge of false alarm/report.

"Our department takes these threats very serious," said PPD Captain Mark Harcrow. "We are dedicated to protecting our community."
