Man in Angelina Co. jail for parole violation connected to recent bank robbery

LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) - A man who was taken into custody last week on a parole warrant in Angelina County has also been connected to a local bank robbery.

On November 30, Lufkin Police arrested Kristopher Montalvo, 29, of Zavalla,  after authorities received a call about Montalvo wearing a pair of white latex gloves and acting strangely in the Frank Avenue Walgreens. He also had a warrant out of Jasper for criminal mischief.

During an interview, the officer thought the suspect resembled the robber who BancorpSouth on November 21.

Another investigator met with Montalvo, who confessed to the crime, police said.

Montalvo claimed he was on drugs and had trouble remembering most of the incident in which he walked into the bank and slid the teller a note. The note claimed he had a gun and demanded money, though he did not display a weapon during the incident.

Montalvo is charged with robbery, criminal mischief and burglary of a habitation.
