SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (KTAL) - A Shreveport man convicted last month for repeatedly raping a 6-year-old relative has been sentenced to life in prison.
Edward Keith Johnson, 55, will spend the rest of his life in prison, without the possibility of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
Johnson's victim was also present for sentencing. The child was escorted in and out of court by the advocacy group, Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA).
Johnson was convicted after a week-long trial which ended on August 14. The jury came to the conclusion that Johnson repeatedly sexually abused his victim, a relative by marriage, numerous times over several months prior to March 2015.
The victim told his grandmother of the oral and anal rapes he had suffered, as he testified to the court, "too many to count."
The rapes occurred at Johnson's residence on Charles Street in Shreveport, at a shop in Bossier City and in the parking lot of a local supermarket, the court was told.
The grandmother reported the attacks to authorities and Johnson was arrested in April 2015.
