Hoverboards sold at Ace Hardware recalled due to some catching fire

(KETK) - The Consumer Product Safety Commission is alerting consumer to a recall for hoverboards sold nationwide at Ace Hardware and hh gregg stores. The scooters pose the risk of catching fire or even exploding.

Around 8,700 hoverboards were recalled on Tuesday, November 14. Consumbers should stop using the product immediately.

According to CPSC, the recall involves iLive self-balancing scooters with model numbers:

  • GSB56BC
  • GSB56RC
  • GSB65BUC
  • GSB56WC
  • GSB56GDC

Model numbers can be found on the bottom of the unit. 

The product was sold April 2016 through March 2017 for between $170 and $200 at Ace Hardware, hh gregg, acehardware.com and hhgregg.com.

The firm which produces the item has received one report of the battery pack overheating and smoking. No injuries have been reported.
