Former Dallas Cowboy DeMarcus Ware announces retirement

Tyler, Texas (KETK) - Former Dallas Cowboy DeMarcus Ware has announced he is retiring.

On Monday, in a note to fans on Facebook, Ware said he made his decision after a lot of thought and prayer.

The 34-year-old OLB was plucked by Dallas with the 11th pick in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft.

Upon leaving the Cowboys in 2014 to join the Denver Broncos, Ware earned the title of Dallas' all-time leader in quarterback sacks with 117 and all-time leader in forced fumbles with 32.

Ware won Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos on February 7, 2016.
