East Texas brothers plead not guilty to child sex abuse

TEXARKANA, Texas (KETK) - Two East Texas men have pleaded not guilty in a child sexual abuse case.

According to the Texarkana Police Department, officials arrested brothers; Ricky Beckom, 40, and Greggory Beckom, 37, both of Texarkana, for continuous sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 14. The crimes allegedly occurred between 2007 and 2011.

The duo entered pleas of "not guilty" on January 2, 2018, before 102nd District Judge Bobby Lockhart, according to TXK Today.

Officers say they were notified of the abuse after the now 12-year-old victim told her mother about the abuse. The victim said when she was between the ages of 4 and 8-years-old, the brothers forced her to perform sexual acts on numerous occasions. The assaults reportedly occurred at the Beckom home while the suspects’ mother babysat her. Both men were living with their mother at the time.

After conducting a criminal investigation, Detective Tabitha Smith arrested both men on November 15.

The investigation revealed the suspects' mother provided childcare to a number of children during this same general time frame. Unfortunately, there is reason to believe that some of those other children may have also been sexually abused by one or both of these men, according to police

The pair is still in custody at the Bi-State Jail. Bond for both men was set at $150,000.
