DPS identifies man killed in crash with logging truck

LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) - One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash involving a logging truck on US 59 North in Angelina County.

According to DPS preliminary investigation, at around 12:37 p.m., a car traveling north on the inside lane of US 59 unsafely switched lanes in front of a semi. The passenger side of the car then hit the semi and both vehicles came to a stop in the ditch north of Rivercrest Road.

A passenger in the front seat of the car was killed during the accident. Troopers identified the victim as Jesse King, 50, of Lufkin.

The driver was identified as John Dannar, 28, of Lufkin.  Dannar and three other people in the car were taken to a Lufkin hospital with unknown injuries.

Earnest Richardson, 66, of Lufkin, has been identified as the driver of the semi. He was not injured during the wreck.

This crash remains under investigation.
