DPS identifies Lufkin man killed in wreck

LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) - The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified a man killed in a one-vehicle wreck Tuesday evening in Angelina County as Eladio Hernandez of Lufkin.

DPS Troopers said Hernandez, 57, was traveling north on FM 2251 when he drove his pickup into the southbound lane, overcorrected, and drove off the road and into a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers injured in the wreck were identified as Adrian Michelle Silvas, 19, from Diboll, and Carlos Malpica, 18, of Lufkin. Silvas was air-lifted to ETMC-Tyler. Malpica was transported to CHI St. Luke’s in Lufkin for treatment.

This crash remains under investigation.
