Lufkin Police chase ends in Rivercrest area

LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) - The Lufkin Police Department was involved in a vehicle pursuit Thursday morning.

According to Lufkin Police Media Specialist Jessica Pebsworth, the chase started around 10:11 a.m. near a Walgreens on North Timberland Drive.

Officers were attempting to conduct a traffic stop when the driver refused to pull over for unknown reasons and the pursuit began.

The driver was trying to escape authorities on Highway 59 N around 10:20 a.m. The vehicle traveled throughout the city and onto the Loop, then later outside city limits. 

The pursuit ended on Rivercrest Road at about 10:30 a.m. when three people bailed the chase vehicle. They were not immediately captured.

It is not known if any of the people involved are armed.

A Lufkin officer will continue to investigate the area. Other local law enforcement has been notified.
