TYLER, Texas (KETK) - The Alzheimer's Alliance in Tyler is hosting virtual dementia tours Saturday.
It's a chance to understand first-hand the day-to-day struggles of a person suffering from dementia. It is open to the general public and you can register online.
Many people who know or care for dementia patients choose to participate.
"Participants in the tour put on different equipment to notice what change of vision, change of touch, change of hearing feels like," Alzheimer's Alliance Community Outreach Director Leslie Lindsey said. "They're given everyday tasks to know what some of the challenges are of living with the disease."
The tours will be from 9 am to 12:30 pm at Oak Hills Terrace Memory Care on Saturday. Call (903) 509-8323 for more information.
