LINDALE, Texas (KETK) - Three people died Sunday morning at the scene of a two-vehicle crash near the city of Lindale.
According to DPS, the crash occurred at around 12:35 a.m. on SH 11 in Smith County, eight miles west of Lindale.
DPS released the preliminary investigation report:
A 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Gilberto Gomez, 26, of Saginaw was traveling south on SH-110, crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lane where it struck a 2005 Toyota Camry driven by Jaewoong Jang, 34, of Lindale. Both vehicles burned.
As a result of the impact, Mr. Jang and his female passenger Mikyung Ji, 29, of Lindale, were pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Cowart. Their bodies were transported to Candle Rutledge Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
Gomez was transported to ETMC-Tyler in stable condition. A passenger in his vehicle was pronounced dead by Judge Cowart, the body was transported to Candle Rutledge Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. The passenger has not been identified at this time.
The crash remains under investigation.
