2 arrested in Tyler card skimming case, bonds set at $1M

TYLER, Texas (KETK) - Two men have been arrested for unlawful use of a criminal instrument in connection with card skimmers found in Tyler.

According to the Tyler Police Department, Adriano Aldana-Rodriguez, 19, and Nelson Isac Fernandez-Lopez, 22, both of Houston, were arrested by police on Tuesday morning.

Around 1:45 a.m. a patrol officer with the TPD reportedly witnessed two men acting suspicious at an Exxon Gas Station, located at Old Jacksonville Highway and Lake Placid Road.

Due to prior criminal activity with credit card skimming devices found at this location twice within the past few weeks, officers were looking for possible suspects involved in this activity.

The officer spoke with the men who were displaying suspicious behavior around the gas pump, police say.

Upon further investigation, the officer was able to locate numerous items of gas pump skimming devices in their vehicle linking the suspects to being in possession of criminal instruments.

Police say the suspects are from an area of Houston associated with several fraudulent skimming investigations.

The pair has been booked into the Smith County Jail on $1,000,000 bond each.
