2 arrested for drugs after routine traffic stop

CHANDLER, Texas (KETK) - A routine traffic stop landed two East Texas men in jail on Tuesday.

According to Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse, officials pulled over a vehicle on Farm-to-Market Road 315 after the driver reportedly committed a traffic offense.

Sheriff Hillhouse says a passenger, Joshua Spivey admitted to possessing two needles when questioned by a deputy. One still contained methamphetamine and he was arrested at the scene, Sheriff Hillhouse says. Though Spivey said he had no additional illegal drugs, when he was booked, authorities say more drugs were found hidden in his boot. Spivey was also charged with bringing contraband into the county jail.

The driver, Michael Oldham, was seen moving about in the vehicle when it was initially stopped, according to Sheriff Hillhouse. Neither Oldham, nor two people in the vehicle, had valid driver’s licenses.

In the console between the driver and passenger seats, a brass metal pipe and marijuana were discovered, according to deputies.

Oldham was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and driving without a valid license.
