Valerie Tysanner joined the KETK news team in May 2017 as a general assignment reporter. She moved to East Texas from Northeastern Pennsylvania, where she anchored and reported for WBRE/WYOU Eyewitness News in Wilkes-Barre.
While in Pennsylvania, Valerie covered politics extensively, including the 2016 Presidential Conventions, where Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were officially nominated. She also had the opportunity to co-host the area's only lifestyle show, and file reports for the Investigative Team. Before moving to Pennsylvania, Valerie helped launch a TV station in the southern tier of New York. It was snowy and cold, but she learned the benefits of hand warmers. While there, she wore many hats as social media director, reporter, anchor and producer. Valerie also has experience covering national news. She interned for Dateline NBC and worked as an editorial assistant and field producer in the Los Angeles NBC office.
Valerie was born in San Jose, California, but went to college a short drive down the California coastline, at University of California Santa Barbara. In her spare time, Valerie enjoys reading, running, traveling and spending time with her husband, Tom. She looks forward to exploring beautiful East Texas and meeting the people who live here.
