FLINT, Texas (KETK) - An East Texas man is behind bars after he allegedly bit a deputy while naked and armed with a shovel.
According to the Smith County Sheriff's Office, at around 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities responded to a disturbance call in the 16800 block of Deer Cove Road.
When deputies made it to the scene, they found a naked man who was high on a substance and armed with a shovel, according to the Sheriff's Office. The suspect refused to put down the shovel and was tased by law enforcement, however, he was not affected by the gun.
The man was later identified as Justin Carsten, 22, of Bullard.
When deputies were bringing Carsten under control, he allegedly bit a deputy on the leg.
Carsten and the deputy were taken to a local hospital. The deputy was treated and released.
The suspect was treated and released into the Sheriff's Office custody.
Carsten remains in the Smith County Jail on $30,000 bond. He is charged with resisting arrest and assault on a public servant.
